In 1854, the Swallow and Arriell Biscuit Factory was built in Port Melbourne. After many years of making biscuits, it was time for a new purpose and was renovated into apartments. The bright inviting spaces of the contemporary loft style apartment retain the history of the past with the comfort of the present. The factory ceilings and polished concrete floors bring an industrial edge to the room. By using an antique carpenters bench from the mid 1800's as the dining room table, it brings a sense of belonging in the room. The bathroom features throw backs to the vintage style of a bygone era but with modern convinces like heated towel rails and a European laundry. We are so glad that we were able to retain the history in this renovation, but also update it and bring it to life once again in the 21st century.
